Short answer: For caps, embroidery is the usual method because it lasts and looks smart. Printing suits fine details and gradients. A patch is sewn on and works especially well on knitted hats and beanies.
Caps and beanies are worn gladly and show your logo at eye level. Which method fits depends on the model and the design.
Embroidery, print or patch
| Method | Suitable for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Embroidery | Caps, beanies with a cuff, clear logos | Very durable; very small lettering and fine lines cannot be embroidered cleanly |
| Fine details, gradients, smooth surfaces | Flatter than embroidery; durability depends on material and care | |
| Patch | Beanies, knitted hats, caps with a striking emblem | Woven or embroidered and sewn on; easy to read even on coarse knit |
The common models
- Baseball cap: the classic with a curved peak and adjustable closure
- Trucker cap: with mesh at the back, airy in summer
- Snapback: flat peak and snap closure
- Beanie and knitted hat: for autumn and winter, often with a cuff
Where does the logo go?
On caps the logo usually sits centred on the front. Extra positions are the side and the back above the closure. On beanies the logo goes on the cuff or as a patch on the front.
