The history of Fruit of the Loom starts in 1851 at the B.B. & R. Knight textile mill in Rhode Island (USA). The name has been used since 1856 and was registered as a trademark in 1871, with registration number 418. In 2026 the brand turns 175.
Since 2002 Fruit of the Loom has been part of Berkshire Hathaway. In the promotional world the brand is known for affordable basics: T-shirts, polos and sweatshirts in many colours and sizes, for adults and children.
