Short answer: Anyone who wants towels printed usually means: with a logo on them. With us the logo gets onto a towel in two ways: embroidered or woven in. Embroidery is the usual choice for terry cloth and lasts a very long time. With weaving, the design covers the whole towel; that pays off in larger quantities.
Towels with a logo are used for a long time and washed often. The method therefore has to match the material. This article shows the differences and helps you choose.
Embroidery or weaving
| Method | Suitable for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Embroidery | Terry towels, bathrobes, logos and names | Very durable and wash-resistant; very small lettering and fine lines cannot be embroidered cleanly |
| Weaving | All-over designs in one or two colours | The design is part of the fabric and cannot fade; worthwhile in larger quantities |
Fabric weight
Fabric weight is given in grams per square metre (g/m²). Many terry towels are between 400 and 500 g/m². A higher weight feels denser and softer and absorbs more water. Microfibre towels are much lighter and dry faster.
Common sizes
- Guest towel: about 30 x 50 cm
- Hand towel and sports towel: about 50 x 100 cm
- Bath towel: about 70 x 140 cm
- Beach towel: about 100 x 180 cm
Which towel for which purpose?
For gyms and clubs, sports towels of 50 x 100 cm are a good fit. Hotels and wellness businesses usually choose heavier qualities with an embroidered logo. For summer sports events, cooling towels and microfibre towels are popular. You can find all models in the category Towels.
