Short answer: Safety vests for professional use are certified to EN ISO 20471. The standard requires a minimum area of fluorescent and reflective material. A logo on the back or chest is possible, but should not cover too much of those areas.
A printed safety vest makes a team visible and recognisable at the same time. Before ordering, look at the standard, colour, size and print position.
What does EN ISO 20471 mean?
The EN ISO 20471 standard applies to high-visibility clothing for professional use. It divides clothing into classes, depending on the amount of fluorescent material and reflective strips. Whether a vest is certified and which class it falls into is stated in the product description.
The print and the standard
A large print covers fluorescent material. This can bring the vest below the required minimum area. Does the vest still need to meet the standard after printing? Then keep the logo modest in size and contact us before ordering.
Colours and sizes
- Colours: yellow and orange are the usual high-visibility colours.
- Sizes: many vests come in one size or in several adult sizes.
- Children: for schools, childcare and clubs there are separate children’s vests in small sizes.
Where does the logo go?
| Position | Effect |
|---|---|
| Back | Largest area; good for a company name, club name or role such as steward or volunteer |
| Chest | Small logo, clearly visible from the front |
| Back and chest | Recognisable from both sides |
